Betting on the San Diego Padres (-105)
After over a month, Seth Lugo is finally going to make a start, as he returns from a calf injury that landed him on the injured list. Lugo is 3-3 this year with a 4.10 ERA and 1.37 WHIP. The Padres have lost in his last two appearances, but Lugo sports a .225 wOBA in his career against current San Francisco players over the course of 32 total plate appearances.
Although they lost Monday, 7-4 to San Francisco, the Padres got a great performance at the plate from Juan Soto, who went 2-for-4 with two home runs and a walk. That is a great sign for things to come from the star outfielder. Matt Carpenter could also be inserted into the lineup this Tuesday, as he is a career 13-for-29 in his career against Giants pitcher Anthony DeSclafani.
Starting pitcher: Seth Lugo (3-3, 4.10 ERA)
Betting on the San Francisco Giants (-115)
The Giants continue to make things happen, as they extended their win streak to eight games after Mike Yastrzemski smashed a walk-off home run against the Padres in the opener of this series. San Francisco’s offense has gotten so much more terrifying of late for opposing pitchers. The Giants have scored at least seven runs in each of their last six games, a stretch that includes their 15-0 demolition of the Los Angeles Dodgers over the weekend at Dodger Stadium.
Yastrzemski has hit .308 with four home runs and 10 RBI in his last six games. As a team, the Giants have already scored 104 runs this month, second-most among all teams in the big leagues in that span. Hopefully for the Giants, their offense will be there anew with DeSclafani getting a start later tonight. DeSclafani allowed five earned runs on seven hits in three innings of an 8-5 road win over the St. Louis Cardinals in his last appearance on June 14.
Starting pitcher: Anthony DeSclafani (4-6, 4.31 ERA)
El Jefe’s Prediction on San Diego Padres vs San Francisco Giants
The San Francisco Giants, who are 6-0 in their last six games against rival teams from the National League Weste division jump on Lugo right away and will have a comfortable lead to manage the rest of the way. Taking the Giants to win.
Prediction:
The Giants win, 7-4.
