Betting on the San Diego Padres (TBA)
The Padres will give the ball to Yu Darvish tonight in hopes that he will be able to pitch a solid game versus the red-hot Giants. Darvish has been atrocious of late, having allowed 10 earned runs on 13 hits in his last two starts, but he is still very much capable of turning it on and putting up a huge performance.
He could also have one fewer problem to deal with this Wednesday with Giants first baseman LaMonte Wade Jr. was scratched before the game Tuesday night due to a seeming upper-body issue that might cause him to miss tonight’s contest. Conversely, the Padres have the likes of Fernando Tatis Jr, and Juan Soto healthy and ready to go. Tatis has hit .423 with two home runs in his last seven games,m while Soto has hit .273 with three home runs and nine walks over the same stretch.
Starting pitcher: Yu Darvish (5-5, 4.74 ERA)
Betting on the San Francisco Giants (TBA)
Who’s going to stop the Giants? San Francisco is now on a nine-game win streak after last night’s victory over the Padres. The Giants just continue to manufacture runs at a high rate this month. In fact, they are second in the big leagues this June with 108 runs, while recording 105 RBI and hitting .270. While they could miss the services of Wade, the Giants still have JD Davis, who is hitting .304 this month.
San Francisco must also be so eager to put Darvish to the test. Darvish has allowed at least four earned runs in three of his four starts. Back in early May, he surrendered four earned runs on nine hits in six innings of start against the Giants. San Francisco lost that game, 6-4, but that was at Petco Park. This time, the Giants will meet Darvish at home, which isn’t a good sign for the pitcher because he has a dizzying 6.19 ERA in six starts on the road this year.
Starting pitcher: Sean Manaea (2-3, 5.84 ERA)
El Jefe’s Prediction on San Diego Padres vs San Francisco Giants
The Giants will have an opener for this game in the form of Ryan Walker. While Walker is not expected to see plenty of innings, it’s worth noting that the Giants are 4-0 in his last four appearances. The Giants have the momentum. Ride it.
Prediction:
The Giants win, 5-4.
