The Padres will come to South Beach seeking for a chance to get back in the win column following back-to-back defeats at the hands of the New York Yankees in a recent trip to the Bronx. Getting the ball to start for San Diego this Tuesday will be Ryan Weathers, who’s also not been all that sparkling of late.

Weathers has allowed eight earned runs on 10 hits across 11.2 innings over his last two appearances. That being said, Weathers’ BABIP of .267 is decent, to say the least. Perhaps Juan Soto can make Weathers’ life on the mound easier by leading the Padres’ offense. Soto is starting to get on a groove, as he’s hit .400 with two home runs and six RBI along with seven runs and nine walks in his last nine games.

Starting pitcher: Ryan Weathers (1-3, 3.94 ERA)

Betting on the Miami Marlins

Padres vs Marlins Picks Odds MLB May 30 2023
  • Season record 2023: 28-26
  • Moneyline: (-130)
  • Run Line: (-1.5, +145)
  • Over/Under: (8.5)

All odds are provided by DraftKings.

The Marlins are on a roll, as they have just swept Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Angels in a three-game series on the road. Miami has now also won four of its last five games. Their offense has been humming of late, and it’s a major reason for the team’s current surge. In fact, over the last 15 days, the Marlins have hit .292 – the best not only in the National League but in the entire majors over that span.

Jorge Soler has been a beast at the plate over the same stretch, during which he’s batted .276 with eight home runs and 15 RBI. That kind of offense from the Marlins must be music to the ears of 2022 ML Cy Young winner Sandy Alcantara, who will be starting for Miami this Tuesday. Alcantara picked up a win in his last appearance, allowing just two earned runs on four hits in six innings of a 10-2 road win over the Colorado Rockies last Wednesday.

Starting pitcher: Sandy Alcantara (2-5, 4.86 ERA)

JefeBet Prediction

Can Miami stay hot at the plate? With the Padres starting an unreliable pitcher in Weathers, the Marlins could very well have another big offensive outing this Tuesday.

Prediction: The Marlins win, 5-3.
