Betting on the San Diego Padres (TBA)
The Padres have cooled down a bit as they are coming off a 4-3 loss to the Rockies in the first game of this series in Denver. Prior to that defeat, the Padres were on a hot roll, winning three games in a row by sweeping the Texas Rangers at home.
It’s unknown as of this writing who exactly the Padres will send to the mound to start tonight’s game but it could be Ryan Weathers. In his most recent start, he allowed four earned runs on six hits in 4.2 innings of a 9-4 road loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on July 15. As for their offense, San Diego should love seeing Rockies pitcher Peter Lambert again because the Padres got the better of him the last time they faced off against him, which was just last June. The Padres tagged Lambert for two earned runs on three hits in three innings of a 9-6 victory at Coors Field.
Starting pitcher: Ryan Weathers (1-6, 6.25 ERA)
Betting on the Colorado Rockies (TBA)
Lambert is doing fine of late. Although he was lit up by the Padres last June, that doesn’t seem to bother him. In fact, Lambert has allowed zero earned runs and only eight hits in his last three appearances which stretched 14.0 innings long. In his most recent appearance on the mound, Lambert pitched six innings with a run (unearned) on three hits against the Washington Nationals on the road last Wednesday.
The Rockies’ offense can lean on Ryan McMahon, who’s gone 9-for-24 with two home runs and six RBIs in his last six games. McMahon might also still be feeling it after going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs in the series opener.
Starting pitcher: Peter Lambert (2-1, 4.76 ERA)
El Jefe’s Prediction on San Diego Padres vs Colorado Rockies
The Rockies are doing surprisingly well on the mound of late. Lambert will keep it going as he stymies the Padres in a Colorado victory.
Prediction:
The Rockies win, 4-2.
