Betting on the San Diego Padres (-140)
The 33-year-old Seth Lugo is ready to give it a go again. In his last start, he got tagged for five earned runs on seven hits in a 7-6 road loss to the Philadelphia Phillies last Sunday. However, that was only his first bad loss after quite a while. Prior to that, he had not given up more than three earned runs in any of his previous four starts.
Lugo is only 1-2 this season on the road but has a 3.43 ERA. He is actually pitching better when he’s away at Petco Park. And considering that the Tigers are among the worst hitting teams in the majors this season regardles of location, Lugo must feel confident about his chances to bounce back this Friday.

The Tigers, on the other hand, will have Reese Olson starting for this series opener. Olson has been winless in his last three appearances, though, one of those came in relief in which he posted a hold during a 4-3 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays at home on July 9.
After that, Olson pitched for 5.1 innings and allowed only two earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts in a 2-0 road loss to the Seattle Mariners last Sunday. He was solid against the Mariners. Detroit simply didn’t have it offensively, thus wasting a good effort from the 23-year-old right-hander. In any case, Olson is sporting a solid 2.33 ERA with only three walks issued in his last 19.1 innings of work, which covered five games (three starts).
