After a pretty good week with four wins in six games, the Phillies received some great news on Tuesday with Bryce Harper’s much-anticipated return. Harper recovered quickly from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent last year.
The star outfielder is coming back to bolster the Phillies’ offense, which took a hit during spring training when Rhys Hoskins was lost for the entire season. The team has struggled so far, hitting only 33 home runs, the fifteenth lowest total in the league.
Harper’s not just here to add some oomph to the lineup and, of course, score some runs. He’s also here to help us forget Monday night’s beatdown during their first home game against the Dodgers.

With a whopping 15 hits, the Los Angeles team matched their season-high with 13 runs scored for the second time. In fact, they only failed to score in the sixth inning against the Phillies’ pitching.
Once again, the Dodgers’ offensive power was on full display, hitting four home runs and maintaining their second place standing in the league with 51 total. They also remain among the top ten clubs for runs scored.
Moving on to pitching, the big question mark continues to surround the collective performance of the Dodgers pitchers, who started Monday with a combined ERA of 4.43. They managed to minimize the damage caused by Philadelphia’s attack, which only scored four runs despite getting nine hits.
Manager Dave Roberts is also hoping that on Tuesday, Julio Urías will regain his form on the mound.
