Betting on the Pittsburgh Pirates (+195)
The Pirates failed to build on the momentum they got from their 9-7 win over the Dodgers last Tuesday as they suffered a 6-4 loss Wednesday. Much of Pittbsrbugh’s hopes to level the series with a win in the finale this Wednesday is on the shoulders of Johan Oviedo, who is looking to bounce back from an embarrassing start in an 11-8 loss last Saturday at home against the Milwaukee Brewers.
He got tagged for eight earned runs in five innings in that game. That’s more of an anomaly, though. For one, Oviedo has not allowed more than two earned runs while pitching no shorter than 4.0 innings in five of his last seven appearances on the mound. The current Dodgers roster also has just a career .207 batting average against Oviedo.
The Pirates are 6-2 in their last eight games against teams from the National League West division.

Betting on the Los Angeles Dodgers (-230)
Like Oviedo, Urias is hoping to turn things around right away following a bad start. He surrendered five earned runs on six hits and allowed two walks in 3.0 innings of work on the mound during a 6-4 loss on the road to the Kansas City Royals last Saturday.
Urias hasn’t been as effective on the mound this season as he was in 2022, but the Dodgers still have won in three of his last five starts. Even more encouraging is the fact that he is 4-1 with a 1.99 ERA and an opponents’ batting average of just .186 in five home starts so far in the 2023 MLB regular season. Mookie Betts looks to make things happen at the plate later tonight with his hot bat, having hit .435 with three home runs and seven RBIs in his last seven games.
The Dodgers are 48-18 in their last 66 games at home against the Pirates.
