The Rangers will look to prevent a sweep at the hands of the Padres when they give the ball this Sunday afternoon to Cody Bradford. In six appearances (only one start) this month of July, Bradford has gone 2-0 with a .357 ERA and held opponents down to just a .239 batting average. In his most recent appearance, Bradford stepped up against the hard-hitting Houston Astros and allowed just two earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts in five innings of relief work, albeit in a 4-3 road loss.

The Rangers can always turn to their offense to carry the load. Texas is still the only team in the big leagues thus far this season with at least 600 runs (606).  The Rangers is also No. 1 in the MLB with a .273 batting average.

Starting pitcher: Cody Bradford (2-1, 4.62 ERA)

The Padres have been pitching well so far in the Texas series. San Diego has allowed only just a run to the Rangers. The Padres, who blanked Texas in Game 2 (4-0), could have yet another strong performance this Sunday coming from Blake Snell. The southpaw is coming off a strong showing in his last start, surrendering only an earned run on two hits in six innings of a 5-1 victory at home over the Pittsburgh Pirates last Tuesday.

However, Snell has issued a total of 12 walks in his last two starts, a source of concern for the Padres. Nevertheless, Snell is 6-4 with a 2.82 ERA and a .188 opponents’ batting average this year in home games. Looking to make Snell comfortable are the likes of Ha-Seong Kim and Manny Machado who have combined for three home runs and 10 RBIs on 13-for-38 at the plate over the last six Padres games.

Starting pitcher: Blake Snell (7-8, 2.61 ERA)
