Top 5 Best Philadelphia Phillies Contracts 2022

The Philadelphia Phillies have a team with the talent to fight to be able to reach the postseason, and in this list we will mention their best contracts heading into the 2022 Major League Baseball season.

Didi Gregorius

Didi Gregorius began his career as Derek Jeter’s supposed successor with the New York Yankees, a role he was unable to fill. However, he has performed well in the National League, and he currently has an annual salary of $14.5 million.

The shortstop from the Netherlands is one of the best hitters at his position in MLB, although, in recent years, he has been the victim of physical problems that have significantly limited his performance.

In 2021, Gregorius could only total 368 at-bats, hitting 13 home runs and driving in 54 runs.

Aaron Nola

Aaron Nola is coming off a disappointing campaign, although he maintains his label as the top player of the rotation for the Philadelphia team.

For the upcoming Major League campaign, the 28-year-old right-handed pitcher has an annual base salary of $15 million.

Nola finished the 2021 regular campaign with a record of 9 wins and 9 losses, with an ERA of 4.63 and WHIP of 1.12. On the other hand, he was able to maintain a good strikeout rate (223 in 180.2 innings), proving that he is a pitcher who is still capable of dominating most of his NL opponents.

J.T. Realmuto

Being one of the best catchers in MLB has to be reason enough to receive one of the most lucrative contracts in the Phillies.

The 30-year-old catcher, who made his major league debut in a Miami Marlins uniform, has an annual salary of $23.8 million.

In his recent campaign, Realmuto posted a .263 average and .343 OBP, with 17 home runs and 73 RBIs. In addition, we are talking about a player who knows how to move his legs, and who already has 57 stolen bases in his lifetime.

Zack Wheeler

Zack Wheeler has established himself as one of the top-performing right-handed starters in the National League, earning him an annual base salary of $26 million.

After his stint with the New York Mets in the early years of his career, the pitcher has looked much better with the Philadelphia team in the last two campaigns.

In 2021, Wheeler finished with a 2.78 ERA and 1.00 WHIP after 213.1 innings on the mound. And we cannot forget that he totaled an impressive amount of 247 strikeouts.

Bryce Harper

The team’s top star, Bryce Harper, who arrived in Philadelphia with the firm objective of leading the Phillies back to the World Series, an achievement that so far has not happened, cannot be missing from this list.

The stellar outfielder has an annual salary of $26 million, after signing a 13- campaign contract and a $330 million contract.

Despite the team’s failure to achieve their main goal, which is to win the National League East Division pennant, it can be said that the good news is that Harper’s level finally lived up to the expectations, and in 2021 he was named the National League MVP after recording 35 home runs and 84 RBIs, with an impressive .429 OBP.

The Phillies are not favorites to reach the postseason in 2022, due to the strong teams assembled by the Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets, but we are talking about a franchise that invested heavily and that should soon achieve important results.
