Betting on Cote D’Ivoire
After getting absolutely blown out by tournament favorite Spain last Saturday, 94-64, Cote D’Ivoire rebounded by taking care of business on Monday, as they defeated Iran, 71-69. That was a huge morale-booster for Cote D’Ivoire, especially ahead of a tough assignment against Brazil. Against Iran, Nisre Zouzoua came off the bench of Cote D’Ivoire and scattered a team-high 17 points. He is the only Cote D’Ivoire player in the tournament thus far that is averaging at least 10 points per game at 12 PPG.
Meanwhile, Maxence Dadiet and Amadou Sidibe each scored 10 points to help get the win in the Iran meeting. Cote D’Ivoire can try to be aggressive again in attacking the basket and drawing fouls when they face off against Brazil. They had lots of success with that strategy versus Iran, with Cote D’Ivoire going 20/21 from the free-throw line.
Betting on Brazil
Brazil are coming off a crushing 96-78 loss to Spain on Monday. Spain are a pre-tournament favorite, so it’s not hard to understand why Brazil lost that badly to the European powerhouse. It was a different story for Brazil in their curtain-raiser in the tournament, as they walloped Iran in a 100-59 victory. The great difference between how Brazil and Cote D’Ivoire beat Iran can pretty much tell you why the former is the favorite to win this Wednesday’s matchup.
Brazil may not be good enough to keep in step with the top dogs in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, but they should be able to handle their assignment easily against lowly teams like Cote D’Ivoire. Bruno Caboclo, who had 15 points and 11 rebounds against Spain can have more fun along with Yago Dos Santos and Timothy Soares on the floor against Cote D’Ivoire.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Cote D’Ivoire vs Brazil
Brazil have their way on both ends of the floor against Cote D’Ivoire for a win and cover.
Prediction: Brazil get the win, 88-67.
