Betting on the Philadelphia 76ers
- Regular Season Record: 54-28
The Sixers are coming off a long rest following a quick work in the first round. Philadelphia demolished the Brooklyn Nets in four games during the Eastern Conference quarterfinals, with surprisingly Tyrese Maxey and Tobias Harris leading the scoring. Maxey finished the first round with an average of 21.8 points on 47.1 percent shooting from the field, while Harris put up 20.3 points on 56.7 percent shooting.
Joel Embiid and James Harden, of course, remain the top assets of Philly, but the fact that neither of them didn’t actually play consistently at a high level, and yet the Sixers swept the Nets speaks volumes about the depth of this team. Embiid’s knee is a cause of concern for the Sixers, but he should still be able to play in Game 1 of the Boston series, thanks to a long rest.
Betting on the Boston Celtics
- Regular Season Record: 57-25
Boston needed six games to thwart the stubborn Atlanta Hawks squad in the first round, but the important thing is that it got the job done. The Celtics have a shorter rest heading into the second round than the Sixers, though, they have the home-court advantage. Moreover, it does appear that the Celtics have Philly’s number this season.
Back in the regular season, the Celtics won three of four meetings with Philadelphia. The only win for the Sixers in those matchups was when Embiid exploded for 52 points. Well, it’s hard to expect Embid to have that kind of performance right from the get-go of the second round, as he’s seemingly not at 100% plus it’s really not easy to torch Boston’s defense. The Celtics finished the regular season second in the league with a 110.6 defensive rating.
JefeBet Prediction
Embiid’s form is a bit worrying and we’re not sure yet if Harden can return to his usually deadly form. Taking the Celtics to win Game 1.
Prediction: The Celtics win, 112-109.
