Betting on the Boston Celtics
- Regular Season Record: 57-25
If it weren’t for their late-game miscues in the series opener, the Celtics likely would have been up 3-0 against the Sixers. Nevertheless, Boston has taken the driver’s seat in this series after a 114-102 win in Game 3 in Philly Friday night. Jayson Tatum recovered from a silent Game 2 performance and dropped 27 points on the Sixers in Game 3 to lead the Celtics.
Meanwhile, Malcolm Brogdon continues to provide sound production from the bench, as the newly minted Sixth Man of Year chipped in 15 points. Boston is 2-0 so far in the series when Joel Embiid is playing on the other side, plus the Celtics have also held James Harden to just 14.0 points on an ugly 17.9 percent shooting from the field the last two games. The Celtics appear to have Philadelphia’s number now.
Betting on the Philadelphia 76ers
- Regular Season Record: 54-28
The Sixers have to figure out the situation fast in their second-round series against Boston. After winning Game 1 – and since Embiid returned to action – the Sixers seem to be struggling with execution on the court. Part of the problem is definitely Boston’s tight defense and ball denial on Embiid, but the Sixers need to continue giving him the rock, notwithstanding the fact that he had 30 points on 9/19 shooting from the field Game 3.
“I didn’t get the ball enough,” Embiid told reporters following the Sixers’ loss Friday at home. “Not to score, but also to make plays for my teammates,” Embiid added. But perhaps more importantly, Harden needs to recapture the form that carried the Sixers to a stunning win in the series opener. Harden scored 45 points in that win, but, as mentioned earlier, fizzled mightily on offense in Games 2 and 3.
JefeBet Prediction
This is an almost must-win game for the Sixers. Joel Embiid comes up with an efficient MVP performance while James Harden snaps out of his slump and plays like vintage The Beard.
Prediction: The Sixers win, 110-105.
