You can now say that the Celtics have their backs pressed firmly against the wall. Expected to come out roaring by many in Game 2 following an upset loss in Game 1, the Celtics instead floundered once again and lost Friday at home, 111-105. But again, it’s not yet the end of the world for the Celtics.
For one, they can return the favor to Miami in Game 3. The Celtics painfully lost both of the first two games of the series to the Heat, but Boston will enter Game 3 having won four of its last five trips to South Beach. Boston has also covered the spread in six of its last 10 games in Miami, dating back to 2020. Jayson Tatum led the Celtics in scoring in Game 2 with 34 points but he was barely a factor offensively when his team needed him the most in Game 3. He should be more aggressive with his shots in the next game.
Betting on the Miami Heat

The Heat are hard to kill. After beating the Celtics surprisingly again in Game 2 of this series, Jimmy Butler and company have raised their record to 6-2 when they trailed in a game by at least 10 points. Butler came through for Miami in the second game of the 2023 NBA Eastern Conference Finals, as he finished with 27 points on 12/25 shooting, with a number of his buckets going down in a crucial stretch in the fourth that saw the Heat erase Boston’s big lead.
Miami also outrebounded the Celtics again in Game 2, 45-35, including 11 on the offensive end. That gave the Heat plenty of extra scoring chances. The Heat have outrebounded and outshot Boston in each of the two games so far in the series, and that might very well be the case again in Game 3 with Miami playing at home. Miami will head to Game 3 with a 4-0 ATS record in their last four outings on a Sunday.
