Betting on the New York Knicks
- Regular Season Record: 47-35
Jalen Brunson showed why he is a $100 million asset for the Knicks in Game 2. The former Villanova Wildcats star pumped in 30 points on 10/19 shooting from the field to lead the Knicks to a 111-105 victory at home. After an atrocious 3-point performance in Game 1, Brunson knocked down six of his 10 attempts from deep, so hopefully for the Knicks, he’s going to sustain that form when they head to South Beach.
Julius Randle also returned to action after sitting out the series opener and scoring 25 points while grabbing 12 rebounds and dishing out eight assists in 38 minutes. He was a bit sloppy in certain moments in Game 2, but now that he’s all warmed up, the Knicks can expect even better things from their do-it-all power forward. It’s also a good sign that the Knicks have finally recaptured their shooting touch from long range after going 16/40 on their 3-pointers last Tuesday.
Betting on the Miami Heat
- Regular Season Record: 44-38
The Heat did not have Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro in Game 2 and yet they came so close to upsetting the Knicks on the road. It’s a testament to the mentality of Miami and the coaching abilities of Erik Spoelstra. Butler can be expected to return in Game 3, though, so that will be a big boost for Miami, which shot 44.7 percent from the field and got notable production from the pair of Caleb Martin and Gabe Vincent.
The Heat have some dogs on the team. They don’t even seem to run out of such players. Martin scored 22 points in Game 2, while Vincent and Max Strus had 21 and 17 points, respectively. Miami, however, needs Bam Adebayo to find the next gear. He’s been good but not great in the second round so far, though, a breakout game could be coming with a home game up next for the Heat. In any case, he is still averaging 15.5 points on 52.2 FG% in the series.
JefeBet Prediction
With or without Jimmy Butler, I expect the Heat to turn it up at home in Game 3. This is a team that knows how to maximize its talent and put up the greatest effort it can in any given game in the playoffs.
Prediction: The Heat win, 107-105.
