The Lakers still have a shot at locking up one of the six guaranteed spots in the playoffs over in the Western Conference. While that is going to be easier said than done for Anthony Davis and company, especially with the Clippers up ahead, the Lakers have been playing like a playoff team for the most part of their past several games.
The Lakers have seen their offense improve, thanks in large part to AD, who has taken it upon himself to carry the team on his back. And then, of course, there’s LeBron James, who has returned from injury. He has been the Lakers’ best weapon versus the Clippers this season. In three meetings with the Clippers in the 2022-23 NBA regular season so far, the four-time league MVP has averaged 32 points on 51.5 FG%, 8.7 rebounds, and 6.0 assists. The last time these two Los Angeles teams shared the court, the Lakers still did not have the likes of D’Angelo Russell, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Malik Beasley. In other words, this is a much-improved version of the Lakers the Clippers are about to deal with.
