It took Los Angeles a gutsy effort in the Play-in Tournament game against the Minnesota Timberwolves last Tuesday for the Lakers to snag the No. 7 seed. Behind the heroics of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Dennis Schroder, the Lakers beat Minnesota 108-102 (OT) at home.
The Lakers are have elevated their level of play of late, which is not good news for Memphis. In addition to that, the Lakers are all warmed up for the playoffs, unlike the Grizzlies who might come into Sunday’s game a bit rusty due to long rest. The Lakers have averaged an incredible 127.2 points on 50 percent shooting from the field in their last five outings. The Lakers have also won seven of their last 10 road games while going 6-4 ATS in those contests as well.

Their defense gets even better when viewed from an advanced stats perspective, as Memphis is second overall with a 111.2 adjusted defensive rating. The Grizzlies are just so good at protecting the rim and defending against mid-range attempts. Jaren Jackson Jr. is a defensive beast, who should give Anthony Davis problems, while Ja Morant and Desmond Bane play the passing lanes so well. The Grizzlies are 3-1 against the spread in their last four home games versus the Lakers.
