Betting on the Los Angeles Lakers
- Regular Season Record: 43-39
The Lakers successfully sustained their momentum from their win in the Play-in Tournament against the Minnesota Timberwolves, as they embarrassed the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 1 of their first-round matchup Sunday on the road, 128-112. Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura provided excellent numbers in support of their stars.
Anthony Davis showed he can dominate even against Jaren Jackson Jr. by dropping a ridiculous stat line of 22 points, 12 rebounds, three steals, and seven blocks, while Reaves and Hachimura recorded 23 and 29 points, respectively. It appears that the Lakers have completely familiarized themselves with playing alongside each other at just the best time. The Lakers could also get a huge bonus in Game 2 if Ja Morant ultimately gets ruled out of Game 2.
Betting on the Memphis Grizzlies
- Regular Season Record: 51-31
The Grizzlies are down 1-0 in the series against the Lakers, but they can’t lose focus. They still have the homecourt advantage in Game 2 and even if Morant, who hurt his hand in the series opener, sits out Tuesday’s contest, the Grizzlies have shown in the regular season that they can win games against any type of competition without the high-flying point guard.
Tyus Jones is one of the best backups in the NBA, regardless of position, and he’ll definitely receive an expanded role in case Morant becomes sidelined. Jaren Jackson Jr. might have struggled to contain AD in Game 1, but he also gave him the business with 31 points, five rebounds, and four assists for the Grizzlies, who are 8-2 SU in their last 10 home games overall.
JefeBet Prediction
The Lakers pounce on the Grizzlies again, with other role players stepping up this time around. Hachimura is not going to be as hot from deep in Game 2 as he was in Game 1, but Los Angeles will source perimeter firepower still from the others.
Prediction: The Lakers win, 114-111.
