The Mavericks have had an up-and-down campaign, but at least they were able to end a painful negative streak of four consecutive losses by winning at its previous commitment against the Golden State Warriors.Luka Doncic, who had 41 points, 12 assists and 12 rebounds, was once again the main figure in a hard-fought game that ended with a score of 113-116.
As his performance reflects, Doncic has completely carried the Mavericks this campaign, averaging 33.1 points, 8.4 assists, 8.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. In fact, he is the player with the best points-per-game average in the league, surpassing the likes of Stephen Curry and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Even at that level, Doncic has not been able to get his team to the top of the Western Conference, the main cause has been the Mavericks’ away performance as they come to this game with just one win in eight away games and five losses in a row at home.

The Pistons have yet to get back on their feet, and they continue owning the NBA’s worst record after prolonging their streak of consecutive losses to three when they got defeated 140-110 at home by the New York Knicks last Tuesday. In that a game, they allowed 30 or more points in each quarter and had no player with at least 20 points.
Such result is a sign of what the season has been like for the Pistons, who are currently averaging 109.1 points scored per game (fifth worst in the league).They have one of the worst defenses in the NBA with an average of 116.7 points allowed per game.
Playing at home has not been of great help for the Pistons this season either, as they have won just three of the ten games they have played as locals so far. This does not seem to be the ideal scenario to improve that record, considering that they have lost seven of their last nine meetings against the Mavericks.

While the Mavericks are not great away from home, this is a great opportunity to redeem themselves and improve their poor record on the road.
