Betting on the Phoenix Suns
- Regular Season Record: 45-37
Kevin Durant and Devin Booker are going to get what they usually get on offense, but it’s when the supporting cast steps up that Phoenix is having success the most in this series, so far. In Game 3, TJ Warren provided that auxiliary boost for the Suns. In Game 4, it’s Landry Shamet, who came up with 19 points on the strength of 5/8 shooting from behind the arc off the bench.
With the bench showing signs of life of late, the Suns, who are averaging 117.1 points in the playoffs, have put up 125.0 points on 53.4 percent shooting in Games 3 and 4 at home combined. Durant and Booker are leading the charge for the Suns with 32.0 and 36.3 points per game in the second round, respectively. For what it’s worth, the Suns are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games after notching 125+ points in a previous outing.
Betting on the Denver Nuggets
- Regular Season Record: 53-29
Sure, the Nuggets lost Game 4, but that did little to change the opinion about Nikola Jokic as an unstoppable singular force in the series. Jokic walloped the Suns in that game for 53 points on 20/30 shooting from the field while also adding 11 assists and four rebounds in 39 minutes. With his performance, he was able to tie for the second-most points scored in a playoff game ever by a center.
While it’s unlikely he gets 50 points again in Game 5, it’s clear that Phoenix just has no antidote for The Joker. Deandre Ayton offers nothing more than just cardboard resistance in front of Jokic, who is averaging 30.8 points, 13.1 rebounds, and 9.2 assists per game since the start of the 2023 NBA Playoffs. Expect him to continue having success on offense, but also watch out for a potential suspension for Jokic after a brief scuffle with Suns owner Mat Isbhia in Game 4.
JefeBet Prediction
The Suns have momentum, but the Nuggets are not going to lose three games in a row – not with Jokic playing the way he is in the series. Denver will win Game 5 and take the 3-2 series lead.
Prediction: The Nuggets win, 119-115.
