Betting on the Minnesota Timberwolves

  • Regular Season Record: 42-40

The good news for the Timberwolves is that they have secured the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference standings with a 42-40 record after beating the New Orleans Pelicans last Sunday at home, 113-108. The bad news for them, meanwhile, is that they just lost a key member to injury, with Jaden McDaniels sustaining a fractured hand after punching the wall near the end of the New Orleans game’s first quarter.

Without McDaniels, the Timberwolves will look to soften the blow of his absence by likely giving more minutes to Taurean Prince. In any case, there is enough talent on Minnesota’s roster to give the Lakers fits. Take for example Anthony Edwards, who just scored 26 points against the Pelicans. There’s also Karl-Anthony Towns, who can score efficiently from almost anywhere on the floor. As a team, the T-wolves are third in the league with a 40.3 FG%.

Betting on the Los Angeles Lakers

  • Regular Season Record: 43-39

The Play-in Tournament, some points this season, looked out of reach for the Lakers. But here they are preparing for a Play-in Tournament matchup versus Minnesota as the home team. The Lakers have been terrific of late. They have won nine of their last 11 games and both of their last two. The last time they were on the floor, they scored a 128-117 win over the Utah Jazz at home Sunday.

That aforementioned 11-game span also included the Lakers’ 123-111 victory over Minnesota on the road late last March.  Los Angeles has their major players all healthy, including D’Angelo Russell, who missed games recently.

With the Timberwolves missing McDaniels, they will be down one key perimeter defender to help Minnesota contain the likes of LeBron James and Austin Reaves. Speaking of James, the four-time league MVP is still a major threat even at his age. James finished the regular season leading the Lakers with 28.9 PPG on 50 FG%.

JefeBet Prediction

The Lakers continue rolling with a convincing victory against the Timberwolves, thanks to terrific performances by Russell, James, and Anthony Davis, who makes a huge impact on the game despite being matched up against Minnesota’s Twin Tower combo of Towns and Rudy Gobert.

Prediction: Lakers win, 123-115.
