Betting on the Alabama Crimson Tide
- Regular Season Record: 30-5
Alabama flexed its muscles in the first round, as the Crimson Tide bludgeoned the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders, 96-75. The Crimson Tide were never in any kind of danger during the game, as they had their way on both ends of the floor – as they should, considering they are a No. 1 seed.
Alabama did not even need Brandon Miller to score to clobber the Islanders, with the forward going 0/5 from the field and finishing with zero points. Of course, Miller is a way better player than what his anemic shooting performance in that game suggests. He should be able to get it going this Saturday versus the Terrapins.
Back in the regular season, Miller led the Crimson Tide with 19.6 points per game on 60.6 TS%. Also, watch out for Alabama’s outside shooting. It’s been hot the past few games, with the Crimson Tide nailing at least 12 3-pointers in three of their last four, including in the first round in which they went 15/33 from deep.
Betting on the Maryland Terrapins
- Regular Season Record: 22-12
The Terps passed their test in the first round by a hair, as they squeaked past the West Virginia Mountaineers in a 67-65 win Thursday. Center Julian Reese had a big game for Maryland, dropping 17 points with nine rebounds and three blocks to go with three assists in 37 minutes of action, while guard Hakim Hart chipped in 15 points, four assists, and two steals. But it was the defense that really starred for Maryland, which held the Mountaineers to only 39.3 percent shooting from the field.
Even though they will be facing a No. 1 seed on Saturday, don’t expect Maryland to be intimidated at all. The Terps have been battling powerhouses all season long in the Big Ten and even had a win against the likes of the Indiana Hoosiers and the Purdue Boilermakers.
This is a team that finished the regular season 23rd in the nation with just 63.2 points allowed per game. Another key for the Terps in the second round will be the performance of Jahmir Young, their leading scorer this season who shot just 1/5 in the WVU matchup.
JefeBet Prediction
It’s not too crazy to think that Maryland will get the job done in the second round. However, it just seems that Alabama is in a better form, Brandon Miller’s struggles and all. This will be tight game from start to finish with Alabama making just enough right plays towards the end to come away with a win.
Prediction: Alabama wins, 72-69.
