Betting on the Auburn Tigers
- Regular Season Record: 20-11
Auburn made sure to grab a massive victory to end the regular season as the Tigers demolished the Tennessee Volunteers at home last Saturday, 79-70. That win put Auburn at exactly two games above .500 in the conference standings with a 10-8 record. Among those 10 wins in the SEC for Auburn is its 72-59 victory against the Razorbacks at home in January in which diminutive guard Wendell Green Jr. put up the biggest performance for his team.
Green scored 19 points with five assists in that game for Auburn, which hurt Arkansas the most with defense. The Tigers held Arkansas to just 33.9 FG% and only 2/15 from behind the arc. Auburn’s defense has always been tough to crack this season, with the team ranking inside the top 30 in adjusted defensive efficiency. The Tigers are 5-5 ATS in their last 10 games.
Betting on the Arkansas Razorbacks
- Regular Season Record: 19-12
Unlike Auburn, the Razorbacks did not have a nice ending to their regular season. Arkansas lost to the Kentucky Wildcats at home last Saturday, 88-79. Before that, the Razorbacks fell prey to the Alabama Crimson Tide and to the Tennessee Volunteers. That’s one hell of a stretch, though, that most other teams would also struggle to come up with a winning record.
Auburn projects to be a softer assignment for Arkansas, notwithstanding its loss to the Tigers earlier this year. The Razorbacks will hope for Nick Smith Jr. to stay hot after he just drained a total of 25 points in the loss to Kentucky. They also still have Ricky Council IV, who is viewed by many as a first-rounder in the upcoming NBA Draft.
Smith was not around in the first meeting with Auburn so his presence on the floor on Thursday will be a game-changer in favor of Arkansas in this matchup. Arkansas is 3-2 ATS in its last five games.
