Betting on the Clemson Tigers
- Regular Season Record: 18-6
Clemson is coming off back-to-back losses to the Boston College Eagles on the road (62-54) and to the Miami Hurricanes at home (78-74) on Jan. 31 and Feb. 4, respectively. The Tigers, however, have not lost three games in a row this season, so that’s at least one good sign for them heading into this showdown versus North Carolina.
Plus Clemson is still carrying a very respectable 10-3 record in ACC play. Clemson is going to bank on its defense versus the Tar Heels. The Tigers are No. 1 in the ACC with just 96.0 points allowed per 100 possessions adjusted and are holding conference rivals down to only 44.7 effective field goal percentage. Clemson has managed to cover the spread in two of their last three visits to Chapel Hill, the latest being a 79-76 win there in 2020.
Betting on the North Carolina Tar Heels
- Regular Season Record: 15-9
The Tar Heels have fallen once again. For the third game in a row, North Carolina suffered a defeat, falling prey to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in a 92-85 road loss on Tuesday. Before that, North Carolina lost to the Duke Blue Devils in Durham last Saturday. If anything, it was good to see North Carolina score a ton in the Wake Forest game.
Caleb Love led the Tar Heels with 24 points on 9/25 shooting while Armando Bacot put together another double-double performance of 17 points and 11 rebounds. North Carolina’s defense doomed the Tar Heels against Wake Forest, but there should still be trust in Hubert Davis’ team’s ability to defend.
North Carolina, which is third in the ACC with an adjusted defensive efficiency of 99.8, has seen the total hit the Under in seven of their last 10 games.
JefeBet Prediction
North Carolina is tough to beat especially when it is playing in Chapel Hill. The atmosphere there can get pretty intimidating for the visiting team. Nevertheless, I expect the Tigers to flex their defensive muscles and frustrate North Carolina’s attack.
Prediction: Clemson covers.
