Betting on the Creighton Bluejays
- Regular Season Record: 24-12
Creighton ended the pumpkin ride of the Princeton Tigers in the 2023 NCAA tournament Friday night, as the Bluejays came away with an 86-75 win. The pair of Ryan Kalkbrenner and Baylor Scheierman was too much for Princeton, which couldn’t handle the inside-outside attack of the duo. The 7-1 Ryan Kalkbrenner had 22 points on 9/12 shooting from the field, while Scheierman had 21 points on 8/11 shooting, including five 3-pointers on seven tries.
Speaking of which, Creighton has been shooting the ball well from deep lately. The Bluejays shot 11/24 from behind the arc in the second round versus the Baylor Bears before converting 37.5% of their 3-point attempts in the Princeton game. Creighton’s looking fine as well defensively, as it usually does this season. The Bluejays are 14th nationally with 93.6 points allowed per 100 possessions adjusted.
Betting on the San Diego State Aztecs
- Regular Season Record: 30-6
There is nothing you can say that can intimidate the Aztecs, especially just after they took down No. 1 seed Alabama Crimson Tide in the Sweet 16 round. San Diego State pummeled the Crimson Tide with its defense, limiting Brandon Miller and company to only 32.4 percent shooting from the field.
Miller, who should hear his name early in the first round of the 2023 NBA Draft, was held down to an atrocious 3/19 shooting from the field. As a team, Alabama shot just 32.4 percent. This has been a running theme for the Aztecs in the NCAA tournament. Through three rounds, no team has posted better than 38 eFG% against San Diego State, which is also 23rd in the country with just 63.3 points allowed per contest. The Aztecs have also allowed only a total of 14 3-pointers on 77 attempts.
JefeBet Prediction
Creighton’s not going to shoot a whole lot better in this game than it did in the Sweet 16 round, but the Bluejays won’t let San Diego State have success with its shooting either. This will be a close game with Creighton coming out on top.
Prediction: Creighton wins, 79-77.
