Betting on the Miami Hurricanes
- Regular Season Record: 25-6
The Hurricanes are the top dogs of the ACC regular season, but you bet they are not going to stop there. Miami still has the chance to win the ACC tournament after defeating Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 74-72, in the quarterfinal round. The Hurricanes take pride in their offense, and it’s the same weapons they are going to rely on the most in their attempt to take down Duke anew.
The Hurricanes finished the regular season 13th in Division I basketball with 118.0 points per 100 possessions adjusted and 18th with 79.5 points per game. In the last meeting between Miami and Duke, the Hurricanes prevailed, 81-59, as they made 10 more field goals than the Blue Devils and also recorded a 53 eFG% to just 45.3 eFG% by their opponent from Durham. The Hurricanes are 7-0-1 ATS in their last eight games on a Friday.
Betting on the Duke Blue Devils
- Regular Season Record: 24-8
The Blue Devils also took care of business in the quarterfinal round, as Duke walloped the Pittsburgh Panthers in a 96-69 victory. Duke is red hot right now, as it’s won all of its last seven games, dating back to the regular season. And even though they lost the last time they shared the floor with Miami, the Blue Devils did win in the first meeting, 68-66, back in January at home.
Duke is hoping to carry over the shooting efficiency it had in the win over the Panthers in which the Blue Devils shot 62.1 percent from the field and hit 11 of 26 attempts from behind the arc. Kyle Filipowski led Duke in that game with 22 points on 8/10 shooting from the field and 4/6 from 3-point distance. The Blue Devils have the weapons to keep up offensively with Miami, but it’s their defense that holds the key to success in the semis. They are a top 30 team nationally in terms of adjusted defensive efficiency (95.4).
JefeBet Prediction
The Blue Devils’ defense stymies Miami for a close win. Filipowski hits at least 50% of his shots from the field, while Duke wins the rebounding battle by a considerable margin.
Prediction: Duke wins, 75-71.
