Betting on the Providence Friars

  • Regular Season Record: 20-7

Providence is starting to heat up again. Following their loss to the St. John’s Red Storm on the road on Feb. 11, the Friars have won both of their next two assignments. They first tripped up the Creighton Bluejays at home via a scintillating 94-86 double-overtime victory on Valentine’s Day then they took down the Villanova Wildcats, also at home, last Saturday, 85-72. Ed Croswell and Bryce Hopkins took charge for the Friars against Villanova, as they scored 21 and 19 points in that game, respectively

They also played crucial roles in Providence’s 73-61 home win over UConn last month, with Croswell and Hopkins combining for 40 points. The Friars get plenty of free-throw attempts most of the time, as their aggressiveness on offense results in 22.6 attempts from the foul line per contest – 19th overall in Division I basketball. Providence is 7-3 against the spread in its last 10 games overall.

Betting on the Connecticut Huskies

  • Regular Season Record: 20-7

UConn is also coming off a win. The Huskies defeated the Seton Hall Pirates at home over the weekend for their ninth win in Big East action. That was also the Huskies’ fourth win in their last five games – a stretch that saw them beat the mighty Marquette Golden Eagles at home on Feb. 7, 87-72. Jordan Hawkins paced UConn ins the Seton Hall game with 20 points, while Andre Jackson Jr. provided a double-double of 15 points and 10 boards in 35 minutes.

While they have had their share of struggles of late, the Huskies remain dangerous on both ends of the floor. After all, UConn is both ranked inside the top 20 in the nation in adjusted offensive efficiency and adjusted defensive efficiency. The Huskies are also an elite rebounding team on the offensive glass (38.2 ORB%). UConn is 3-2 ATS in its last five games.

JefeBet Prediction

The Huskies flex their muscles at home with a solid showing on offense and defense. They will win the rebounding battle by a significant margin, thus preventing Providence from getting too many attempts.

Prediction: UConn wins by at least five points.
