The call-up for the Mexican National Team for the June training matches and the Nations League was presented this Tuesday: the main surprise being that the strategist Gerardo Martino summoned 38 players.

“Tata” is determined to test many players on the field in order to choose his ideal eleven for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, and in this call for the Mexican National Team he included some new faces namely striker Marcelo Flores, who announced on Monday that he has chosen to represent Mexico despite having the option of playing for Canada or England.

Between the end of May and the beginning of June, the Mexican National Team will play three friendly matches, against Nigeria on May 28, Uruguay on June 2, and Ecuador on June 5, as well as competing in the Nations League against Suriname and Jamaica on June 11 and 14, respectively.

Another surprise in this call-up for the Mexican National Team is the return of Orbelín Pineda, who was not taken into account by Martino for the last matches of the final octagonal Concacaf Qualifiers.

“Tata” Martino included 4 goalkeepers, 13 defenders, 15 midfielders and 6 forwards in the Mexican National Team call-up.

Goalkeepers: Guillermo Ochoa, Alfredo Talavera, Rodolfo Cota and Carlos Acevedo.

Defenses: Erick Aguirre, Kevin Álvarez, Jesús Angulo, Julián Araujo, Nestor Araujo, Gerardo Arteaga, Julio Domínguez, Jesús Gallardo, César Montes, Héctor Moreno, Israel Reyes, Jorge Sánchez and Johan Vásquez.

Midfielders: Edson Álvarez, Roberto Alvarado, Uriel Antuna, Fernando Beltrán, Luis Chávez, Sebastián Córdova, Erick Gutiérrez, Andrés Guardado, Héctor Herrera, Diego Lainez, Erik Lira, Erick Sánchez, Orbelín Pineda, Rodolfo Pizarro and Luis Romo.

Forwards: Jesús Corona, Marcelo Flores, Santiago Giménez, Raúl Jiménez, Henry Martín and Alexis Vega.

Despite the large number of players, Mexican fans expressed their dissatisfaction in a tweet sent on the Mexican National Team’s official Twitter account, requesting the call of more soccer players such as Aldo Rocha, Víctor Guzmán, Alan Mozo, Juan Pablo Vigón, and Angel Jeremy Marquez.

They also questioned why Pizarro, Córdova, and Romo were summoned.

Do you think someone is missing from the call-up?
