Canelo Álvarez showed full confidence ahead of his upcoming fight against Dmitry Bivol in a semi-complete title fight this May 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada.
This clash against the Russian will mean the return to the ring of Canelo Álvarez, who last fought on November 6, 2021 against Caleb Plant, and his victory in that contest saw him win the super middleweight world title.
The Mexican gave statements in which he kept his nerve and showed the confidence he has in himself for this important event .

Canelo Álvarez also commented that he continues to work hard despite already being considered one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world. Even though he already has worldwide recognition in something he loves, the Mexican stressed that he has not lost his motivation at any time, and that this type of important fights only continue to motivate him to keep working hard.
“I don’t come to the gym like, ‘Oh, I have to train because I have a big fight.’ This is part of my life. These kinds of fights, these kinds of challenges, make me motivate myself. These kinds of fights, big fights like this, make me feel motivated.”

Does Canelo Álvarez Have a Shot for the Title?
Canelo will enter this fight against Dmitry Bivol on an eight-fight winning streak. Overall, the Mexican fighter has won 57 boxing fights throughout his career (39 by knockout), has drawn two more and his only loss was by decision to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September 2013.
However, his rating of this clash as “a great fight” was anything but an exaggeration, as Dmitry Bivol remains undefeated in his professional boxing career. Since winning the interim light heavyweight title, he has not relinquished it, and has successfully defended it on 11 separate occasions. With a record of 19-0, his last six fights have all ended in unanimous decisions in his favor, so Canelo Álvarez will have to be at his best to challenge him.
This is not a new situation for the Mexican, as his last two fights were also against undefeated opponents at the time, such as Caleb Plant and Billy Joe Saunders, and the Guadalajara fighter came out on top in both of them.
