The NFL preseason has already begun and this Friday, August 19, during the second day of the schedule, we will witness the match between the Detroit Lions vs Indianapolis Colts.
Both teams have something in common besides having lost in the first week of the preseason schedule, and that is that both were defeated in the final seconds of the game. While the Lions fell short against the Falcons, the Colts nearly beat the mighty Bills on the road.

While Jared Goff is assured, with many doubts, his place as the Lions’ starting quarterback, the Detroit team continues to define who will be the second in command of the team’s offense in the regular round.
For now, that mission has been unsuccessful after both David Blough and Tim Boyle did not perform well against the Falcons defense. This is something they will try to change against the Colts, as the two should share almost all the team’s offensive snaps.
The good thing for the Lions is that despite their QBs’s poor performance, they were seconds away from winning their first preseason game, something they haven’t accomplished since 2018, by allowing just over 300 yards to Atlanta. Let’s wait and see how they fare against Matt Ryan and company on Saturday.
Betting on the Indianapolis Colts
- Preseason record: 0-1.
- Spread: +2.5.
- Moneyline: +120.
- Over/Under: 40.5.
Matt Ryan finally made his debut with the Colts after being acquired a few months ago from the Falcons. Although his debut did not go as planned, with his side losing in the last seconds, the reactions in Indianapolis were more than enthusiastic.
Ryan completed six of his ten passes, and the offense looked quite explosive when he was on the gridiron. This gives hope to an organization that has had four different quarterbacks as opening day starts in the last four years.
On the other side of the ball, the Colts defense allowed only 10 points to a Buffalo team that was without quarterback Josh Allen until the fourth quarter. They also forced five interceptions by the Bills, something that speaks to the fact that despite the 17 points allowed in the final quarter of the game, they did a good job.
JefeBet Prediction
With many doubts to be resolved by both teams, next Saturday’s game is expected to be very close, as were most of the matches played during the first week of the preseason.
However, this does not negate the possibility of a high-scoring game. Both defenses allowed more than 25 last weekend and without many starters still in action, the offenses appear to be headed for another good performance on the gridiron.
Pick: Over.
