Novak Djokovic was invited to an interview on the Twitch channel of the Madrid Masters 1000, and surprised viewers with his remarkable ability to speak Spanish when referring to Spanish stars Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz.

“My son knows who Nadal is, and Alcaraz too” said the world’s current number one player when asked about who his son Stefano’s favorite player is.

The Serb added with a smile: “In recent months, for my son Nadal is not number one; Alcaraz is number one now for him.”

“Nole”’s funny revelation about his seven-year-old son generated a lot of sympathy among tennis fans who are closely following what is currently happening at the Masters 1000 in the Spanish capital.

Although Alcaraz is only 18 years old, his energy on the court and ability to challenge the best in the world on big stages has made him an idol for many young tennis players, including Djokovic’s son.

At the 2022 edition of the prestigious Madrid clay-court tournament, Djokovic got his campaign off on the right foot by defeating French veteran Gael Monfils 6-3 6-2. On the other hand, Nadal faced Miomir Kecmanovic in his first match.

Remember that this tournament is part of the European clay court tour and serves as a warm-up for the season’s second Grand Slam, Roland Garros, where the tennis player from Palma de Mallorca will seek his 14th title and 22nd of an extraordinary career that has seen him rank alongside Djokovic and Federer as one of the best in history.
