NFL offensive tackle Duane Brown was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on Saturday, according to police, after the player was identified as having a gun in his luggage.
The incident occurred around 2 PM Pacific Time, and a statement from Karla Rodriguez, LAX police, gave details about what happened in a statement saying that Duane Brown was attempting to leave Terminal 6 and was discovered at the screening station in possession of a concealed firearm and was removed from the facility in handcuffs.
It is known that the gun was not loaded, and that Duane Brown had to post a $10,000 bond in order to be released, but will still be required to appear in court on August 3 due to this situation.
Could this affect Duane Brown’s current situation?
Fortunately (or maybe not), Duane Brown will not have to explain what happened to any franchise at this time. as the player is in free agency after terminating his contract with the Seattle Seahawks following last season, a team he spent just over four seasons with after arriving in 2017 from the Houston Texans.
Brown has been one of the best players at his position over the past decade in the NFL, and during his career he has been selected to five Pro Bowl and on three separate occasions to an All-Pro team. For this reason, the Seahawks themselves have been interested in re-signing him, according to Pete Carroll himself in April, and Duane Brown will hope that the situation he experienced has not affected those possibilities, since at 36 years of age he is in the final stage of his career.
However, Duane Brown continues to be one of the best free agents available on the market, and if a team is able to overlook this altercation, it would certainly do well to secure his services for at least one or two more years, especially considering that one of those years he was called to the Pro Bowl was in 2021, which shows he still has some gas left in the tank.
