Auburn is going through a bad moment in the current NCAA Football season, coming into this game with two consecutive losses, by a score of 17-21 vs LSU and to Georgia by a score of 42-10.
In the first two weeks of action, the Tigers had back-to-back wins by scores of 42-16 over Mercer and 24-16 over San Jose State, but then fell to Penn State 41-12. The last win came during a tough game against Missouri, taking the game to overtime after a 14-14 tie and eventually winning it 17-14. Their 3-3 record has prevented them to reach in a good position in the Southeastern (West) Conference, and they are now in last place.

Their most recent win was by a score of 52-28 against Vanderbilt, and so far it is the second victory in which they have scored more than 50 points. Ole Miss ranks second in the Southeastern Conference (West) with the second-best offense and second-best defense, scoring 238 points for and 87 points against.
