Betting on the Arizona Cardinals
- Regular Season Record: 1-2
- BetMGM Spread: +1.5.
- Moneyline: (+102).
- Over/Under: 42.5
After scoring more than 20 points in each of their first two games, the Cardinals were stopped dead in their tracks last Sunday when they failed to score a touchdown against the Rams.
While Kyler Murray recorded 314 yards through the air out of Arizona’s 365 total yards, they reached the red zone just twice and both times ended up kicking a field goal. They were only able to gain 70 yards on the ground, and despite having the most time of possession in the game, the lack of effectiveness in reaching the end zone cannot be repeated against another good defense like the Panthers.
Defensively, Arizona did a good job of holding Los Angeles to 20 points including a scoreless last quarter. Unfortunately, the poor performance of the collective offense in scoring touchdowns was the key to the Cardinals’ 1-2 record today.
Betting on the Carolina Panthers
- Regular Season Record: 1-2
- BetMGM Spread: -1.5.
- Moneyline: (-123).
- Over/Under: 42.5
After two losses by three or fewer points to start the season, the Panthers finally got their first win of the year against the NFC South rival Saints.
New Orleans had 426 total yards, but many of those came in the fourth quarter, when they scored 14 points; Carolina’s defense intercepted Jameis Winston twice and returned one for a 44-yard touchdown on a lost ball by the Saints offense. This was the second consecutive game without them allowing more than 20 points, something very important before facing the dangerous Kyler Murray.
Baker Mayfield performed admirably on offense, but failed to impress. The quarterback completed 12 of the 25 passes he threw for 170 yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Christian McCaffrey had another good performance, gaining more than 100 yards for the second consecutive game; he has to be more active through the air, though, out of the strike zone, against a good Arizona defense.
JefeBet Prediction
The point total may be a little low for a Cardinals offense, but the Panthers defense has been very good this early in the season, allowing less than 26 points in each of their games.
Arizona’s defense has also gotten the job done over the last two weeks and against a Carolina offense that averages 20 points per game we probably won’t have many touchdowns on Sunday.
Prediction: Under (ARI 17 – CAR 20).
