The schedule has not been kind to Stanford, as they will play Oregon for the third straight game against programs ranked among the nation’s best, losing the previous two.
After scoring 41 goals against Colgate in the Week 1 win, the Cardinal offense has been slowed by good defenses from USC and Washington. Against the Trojans, four turnovers were the key, while against the Huskies the ground game was totally ineffective with 86 yards. That’s why their aerial attack, led by quarterback Tanner McKee, will be vital against Oregon’s defense.
On the defensive side of the ball, things haven’t gone Stanford’s way the past two weeks either, accepting more than 470 total yards in each of those two weeks. A real danger considering how well the Ducks have attacked through the air this season.

In addition to moving them to 13th among the nation’s best, the victory helped Oregon confirm the good momentum of its quarterback Bo Nix, who after a disastrous game against Georgia, has a 75 % pass completion rate in the three victories, with almost 1,000 yards thrown, 10 touchdown passes and just one interception.
The doubts for the Ducks lie in their defense. That one allowed 41 points to the Cougars including 375 yards through the air, an area of the game where the Cardinal are also strong. If they can stop McKee, Stanford’s ground offense is not powerful enough to trouble the home defense.
