Betting on the Texas A&M Aggies (-4.5)
Regular season record: 1-0
The Aggies’ offense is looking very fine after just one game with new offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino. With Petrino at the helm of the offense, the Aggies blew out the New Mexico Lobos last Saturday, 52-10. Aggies quarterback Conner Weigman had a blast dominating the Lobos’ defense, as he threw for 265 yards and five touchdowns with zero interceptions.
Evan Stewart and Noah Thomas also came away with big performances downfield, recording 107 and 74 receiving yards, respectively, while totaling four receiving touchdowns together. Texas A&M’s attack is unlikely to put up 50+ points against Miami, but based on how Weigman and company performed last week, the Hurricanes will have their hands full containing the seemingly rejuvenated Aggies attack.
Betting on the Miami Hurricanes (+4.5)
Regular season record: 1-0
The Hurricanes won the Battle of Miamis in their first game, as they defeated the Miami Redhawks, 38-3. Tyler Van Dyke passed for 201 yards and a touchdown with an interception on 17/22 completions while running backs Henry Parrish Jr. and Mark Fletcher Jr. had 166 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns together.
Parrish and Fletcher could be headaches for the Aggies, who weren’t really challenged much on the ground by the Lobos but still allowed 50 yards and a touchdown to New Mexico running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt. The running game is turning out to be a strength of the Hurricanes, who averaged 112.5 rushing yards per contest in 2022.
