Thursday night’s Week 2 NFL matchup brings another exciting clash when the Chargers visit the Chiefs in a matchup of leaders in the tough AFC West.
Los Angeles is coming off of a sign that their defensive moves in the preseason were the right ones as they manhandled Derek Carr and the Raiders with three interceptions and a 24-19 victory. Something they will have to maintain when traveling to Kansas City, as the Chiefs come from scoring 44 points with Patrick Mahomes, who threw 360 yards and 5 TDs.
The Chiefs responded to their offensive doubts after Tyrek Hill’s departure with a formidable offensive display. Defensively, they also got the job done, allowing just 282 total yards to the Cardinals, although they will likely have to work harder against Justin Herbert, who recorded 279 yards and three touchdown passes against Las Vegas.

Miami Dolphins (+150) vs Baltimore Ravens (-179) / Sunday, September 18 / 2:00 PM E.T.

The Dolphins and Ravens got off to a good start in the 2022 NFL season and this coming Sunday they will face each other after a great defensive display by both teams in the first week.
After a fairly busy preseason in terms of acquisitions, Miami barely conceded 271 yards to the Patriots, in addition to forcing two fumbles and an interception to win 20-7. On offense, Tua Tagovailoa responded to his first big test with 270 yards and a touchdown pass, although he will have to work harder in Week 2 against the Ravens’ great defense.
Baltimore is coming off a 24-9 win over a Jets team that, while totaling 378 total yards, was unable to respond in the red zone and had two turnovers in the game. On offense, Lamar Jackson was the main protagonist with 213 yards and three TDs, an important performance considering that he will now face a good Dolphins secondary.
Prediction: Under.

New York Jets (+210) vs Cleveland Browns (-263) / Sunday, September 18 / 2:00 PM E.T.

Against all odds and with a 58-yard field goal to end the game, the Browns picked up their first win of the season on Sunday and will now host a Jets team that was manhandled at home by the Ravens.
After a scoreless first quarter, Cleveland’s offense came alive in the final three quarters, led by Jacoby Brissett, to defeat the visiting Panthers 26-24 and go into Week 2 of the NFL season in high spirits. The Browns defense gave up just 261 total yards to Carolina and Baker Mayfield, so against Joe Flacco and New York, who are coming off just nine points at home, they could have a pretty friendly afternoon.
The Jets need to turn their offense around if they want to get their first win of the season playing on rival soil. Against Baltimore, they conceded 24 points, and although they almost reached 400 total yards on offense, they were unable to score at the necessary moments.
Prediction: Browns Spread.

Washington Commanders (+115) vs Detroit Lions (-135) / Sunday, September 18 / 2:00 PM E.T.

Despite the different results, Commanders and Lions showed good things during the first week of the championship, and this Sunday they meet as part of Week 2 of the NFL.
Although Carson Wentz threw two interceptions in his first game with Washington, the quarterback performed when he was needed most and scored two of his four touchdowns in the fourth quarter to complete an important comeback against the Jaguars by a score of 28-22.
As for the Lions, the Detroit team died with their boots on in a 38-35 loss to the Eagles in their opener. Of course, the 455 total yards allowed by the defense is a concern and more so if Wentz comes in focused again, but the Lions never gave up and Jared Goff showed responsiveness to command the offense.
Prediction: Over.

Indianapolis Colts (-204) vs Jacksonville Jaguars (+170) / Sunday, September 18 / 2:00 PM E.T.

After a complex first week for both teams, the Colts and Jaguars meet this Sunday looking for their first win of the campaign.
The Indianapolis team surprisingly tied the Texans at 20 points and was on the verge of defeat if Matt Ryan, in a very difficult afternoon, was able to react in the fourth period with 17 consecutive points and finish with 352 yards of his team’s 517 total. And that was a performance that could be improved against a Jacksonville defense that struggled in their first matchup.
The Jaguars led going into the fourth period but were unable to stop a comeback by Carson Wentz and the Commanders, who won 28-24 thanks to 14 points down the stretch. Jacksonville’s defense allowed 390 total yards and on Sunday they will face a more potent offense in Ryan and Jonathan Taylor.
Prediction: Colts Spread.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-164) vs New Orleans Saints (+140) / Sunday, September 18 / 2:00 PM E.T.

In a key matchup for both teams’ NFC South aspirations, the Buccaneers and Saints face off this Sunday in one of the most anticipated games of the day.
The Buccaneers are coming off a 19-3 win over the Cowboys on Monday night with a defensive masterclass and the points needed for the win. The Bucs conceded just 244 total yards, but now they will have to face a team with a great receiving corps and the return of Michael Thomas.
The wide receiver was key in the comeback of the Saints, who with 17 points in the fourth period defeated the Falcons 27-26. Of course the win is important, but what is considered the best defense in the league conceded 417 total yards to Atlanta, a team that on paper is less dangerous than the Bucs of Tom Brady and Leonard Fournette, who against Dallas rushed for 127 yards.
Prediction: Under.

After pulling off one of the biggest surprises of the first week of the season by beating the Titans, the Giants host the Panthers this Sunday in what promises to be a close game.
New York scored all 21 of its points in the second half on a spectacular performance by running back Saquon Barkley, who finished with 164 yards, a touchdown and a two-point pass reception to beat the defending AFC champions at home.
For their part, the Panthers were unable to finish a comeback, at home against the Browns, after presenting serious defensive problems by conceding 355 total yards. A performance that could improve a bit against a less powerful Giants offense, but which showed that they are not willing to concede that many points either.

New England Patriots (-115) vs Pittsburgh Steelers (-105) / Sunday, September 18 / 2:00 PM E.T.

This second week of NFL action brings us one of the AFC’s classic clashes when the struggling Patriots visit the surprising Steelers.
Bill Belichick’s team was completely outplayed on Sunday by the Dolphins, losing 20-7, gaining just 277 total yards and something unusual for the head coach’s teams: three turnovers. Add to that the fact that Mac Jones is out with a sore back and that Pittsburgh’s defense is just as solid, if not more so, than Miami’s.
If New England’s afternoon was complicated, the Steelers’ afternoon was bittersweet after holding off a Bengals’ comeback to win the game in overtime at the home of the AFC champions, 23-20, but at the same time losing T.J. Watt and Najee Harris to injury.. While Cincinnati recorded 432 yards, the Steelers intercepted Joe Burrow four times and forced a fumble.

Sunday’s second hour brings us the match between Falcons and Rams, two teams from which different things are expected this season but that share something from the first week: defeat.
The Atlanta team let the victory slip away against the Saints by allowing 17 points in the last period and losing 27-26. And that’s an encouraging result considering that New Orleans’ defense is considered one of the best in the circuit, along with that of the Rams, precisely the team they will face on this occasion.
The reigning champions will surely be eager to roll over the Falcons after being humiliated at home by the Bills. On Thursday night they lost 31-10 in a game where Matthew Stafford, just recovered from an elbow injury, threw three interceptions.
Prediction: Over.

Seattle Seahawks (+335) vs San Francisco 49ers (-435) / Sunday, September 18 / 5:05 PM E.T.

After the first championship week, no one would have bet that the Seahawks would be the leaders of the NFC West and that the 49ers would barely score 10 points against the Bears.
This was the case after the Seattle team surprised the Broncos on Monday Night Football by beating them 17-16 with a great performance by the defense, which forced two fumbles near the touchdown line, and Geno Smith, who led the offense with 195 yards and two touchdowns. The bad news is that Jamal Adams was injured and will be out of action for several weeks.
As for the 49ers, Trey Lance’s first start was not what San Francisco expected as they were stunned by 19 consecutive Chicago points and fell 19-10. The quarterback completed just 13 of 28 passes for 164 yards and one interception. Deebo Samuel also struggled, and Elijah Mitchell was injured and will miss at least eight weeks of action.

Cincinnati Bengals (-323) vs Dallas Cowboys (+250) / Sunday, September 18 / 5:25 PM E.T.

While the season did not start well for the Bengals, things were much worse for the Cowboys after losing quarterback Dak Prescott on Monday night.
Cincinnati was unable to hold a three-point lead against the Steelers, who forced overtime and went on to win 26-23. In that game, Joe Burrow was quite erratic, as despite throwing for 338 yards with two touchdowns, he was intercepted four times. Something he will have to take care of when he takes on the Cowboys secondary, one of the best in the league.
The defense needs to perform well considering the Dallas offense had an awful night against the Buccaneers, losing 19-3, and Prescott suffered a right-hand injury that will keep him out six to eight weeks. Cooper Rush will be tasked with trying to improve an offense that recorded just 244 total yards against Tampa Bay.
Prediction: Bengals Moneyline / 24-17.

Houston Texans (+360) vs Denver Broncos (-476) / Sunday, September 18 / 5:25 PM E.T.

Both the Texans and Broncos were involved in surprising matchups during the first week of the season, and this Sunday they face off looking for their first win of 2022.
The Houston team squandered a 17-point lead in the final period of the game and tied for the first time in the history of the organization by tying the Colts at 20 points. The Texans could have sealed the game, but their defense fell apart as they accepted 517 total yards from their opponents.
Meanwhile, the Denver squad was stunned Monday night when they were defeated by the Seattle Seahawks in Russell Wilson’s return to the city where he made his league debut. While the quarterback threw for 340 yards with a touchdown, Seattle’s defense forced two fumbles near the goal line to slow the Broncos’ offense.
Prediction: Texans Spread.

Arizona Cardinals (+192) vs Las Vegas Raiders (-233) / Sunday, September 18 / 5:25 PM E.T.

Arizona comes from being crushed by Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs, who showed no mercy to the Cardinals’ defense by scoring five touchdowns and 360 of his team’s 488 total yards. Offensively, they were able to score 21 points, but in this game they will face a more solid defense than Kansas City.
Meanwhile, Las Vegas fell short in its divisional game against the Chargers, losing 24-19. Derek Carr was intercepted three times by the powerful Los Angeles defense and against the Cardinals is a good moment to vindicate himself, especially if we take into account the party that Mahomes had against them.

The Bears are coming off a big win over the San Francisco 49ers thanks to a very good defense that held their opponents to 10 points and forced them to lose the ball on a couple of occasions. That was the key for Chicago, which, while going scoreless in the first half and barely managing 224 total yards, scored the game’s final 19 points.
For their part, the Packers had no chance against the Vikings, a team that outgained them 23-7 by recording 397 total yards. Offensively, Aaron Rodgers was never able to solve Minnesota’s defensive approach, and with no reliable receivers, he could be in trouble again on Sunday against Chicago’s good defense.

Despite a strong performance by Ryan Tannehill, Derrick Henry was held by New York to just 82 yards for no touchdowns. Performance that he is bound to improve if his team is to have any chance against Buffalo.
The Bills strengthened their lead in the Las Vegas odds to win the Super Bowl this season after a 31-10 drubbing of the defending champions, the Rams, on the road. Despite throwing two interceptions, Josh Allen finished with 297 yards and three touchdowns, while the defense is well on its way to measuring up to Henry and company by totaling three interceptions and allowing 243 total yards.

Minnesota Vikings (+100) vs Philadelphia Eagles (-120) / Monday, September 19 / 9:30 PM E.T.

After the first week of the season, everything seems to indicate that the clash between the Vikings and Eagles, second on the Monday Night Football slate, will be the ideal matchup to close out Week 2 of the NFL season.
In a convincing display that allows them to dream of the NFC North title, the Vikings defeated Aaron Rodgers’ Packers 23-7. On defense, they forced an interception and a fumble, while on offense, wide receiver Justin Jefferson gave a master class with 184 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
On the other hand, the Eagles, in a vibrant game from start to finish, defeated the Lions on the road with an impressive offensive performance that ended with 455 total yards. While this will certainly not be repeated against the Vikings, it is important for the Eagles to know that they have a case to win as they totaled 236 yards through the air and 216 yards on the ground with four touchdowns.
