Betting on the Chicago Bears
With four consecutive losses, the Bears are at the bottom of the NFC North with little chance of turning things around.
Thanks to Justin Fields’ amazing performance, Chicago’s offense has scored 29 points or more in four of its last five matchups. Their leadership in rushing yards (2,177), average yards per carry (5.4), and rushing touchdowns (14) has been largely attributed to the quarterback.
The problem lies in defense, which has been a real disaster, allowing 142 points in the last four games. In total, they are the third defense with the most touchdowns conceded with 274, while they are tied for the third most net passing yards with an average of 7.0 and on the ground they concede the sixth most, with 4.7 yards per rush.
Betting on the New York Jets
Despite their loss to the Patriots, the Jets are still a long shot to get into the postseason, so hosting the Bears at home should be good news.
The best treatment for New York’s offensive issues, which have prevented them from scoring more than 20 points in four straight games, may be Chicago’s defense. Zach Wilson most likely won’t be the starting quarterback on Sunday as they try to improve their 5.0 yards per play average, which ranks them sixth-lowest in the league, and their 5.4 net yards per pass average, which ranks fourth-lowest.
Defensively, the Jets have allowed 186 points, the ninth fewest in the league, while allowing just 4.8 yards per play, the third-lowest average in the league. New York’s secondary has done a great job of conceding just nine passing TDs, while its defensive line allows just 4.0 yards per rush.
JefeBet Prediction
The matchup between one of the best ground attacks and one of the best teams at stopping the ball’s run will undoubtedly be close. The difference will be made by the Jets’ offense and their ability to take advantage of Chicago’s defensive problems.
What is clear to us is that the Bears have a 5-0-1 record against the Spread in the last six meetings between the two teams, although on the road this year their record is 1-5, while at home the Jets are 2-3.
Prediction: Over (CHI 20 – NY 21).
