Betting on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Regular Season Record: 3-3
- BetMGM Spread: -11.0
- Moneyline: (-556)
- Over/Under: 40.5
The Buccaneers’ season is not going as well as expected, despite remaining co-leaders of the NFC South.
The latest blow was their loss last week to the Steelers. Despite winning three games in the first six weeks, the Buccaneers have not looked solid on offense, and against Pittsburgh this problem was again evident. Tom Brady and company could only score 18 touchdowns to a team that was coming off 38 points and 552 yards allowed. It is the fourth time this year the Bucs have scored fewer than 20 points and have only topped 21 once.
For its part, the defensive side continues to be the face of this team so far this season. For the fifth time they allowed 20 points or fewer to their opponents, but they have not had the support of a Brady who continues to be frustrated on the gridiron.
Tampa Bay’s defense averages the fourth-fewest yards per play (4.7), fifth-fewest yards through the air (5.0) and third-fewest sacks (21). Which are their problems? They are second in penalties committed and have been scored on in 12 of 16 visits to the red zone.
Betting on the Carolina Panthers
- Regular Season Record: 1-5
- BetMGM Spread: +11.0
- Moneyline: (+400)
- Over/Under: 40.5
The Panthers’ season has been a complete disaster, and there seems to be nothing that can prevent them from being among the worst teams in the league at the end of the year.
With Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold injured, P.J. Walker started Sunday’s game against the Rams and totaled just 60 yards on 16 attempts. For the fourth time this season, Carolina has failed to score more than 16 points, in addition to being last in first down conversions (79) and total yards per play (4.8). Add to that the fact that their best receiver, Robbie Anderson, was traded to the Cardinals because of behavioral problems against the team’s coaching staff.
As for the Panthers’ defense, it doesn’t help compensate for the lack of points either. On four occasions, Carolina allowed 24 points or more, is first in penalties committed league-wide with 47 for 351 yards and is the fourth team with the fewest catches of opposing quarterbacks with just nine.
JefeBet Prediction
The commitment line is quite low, but taking into account the reality of both teams, especially that of the Panthers, there is no way this game can end with a high score.
Tampa Bay’s offense should improve against an average defense like Carolina’s, while its defense will again have a big day against a team that is without its starting QBs and its best receiver and relies solely and exclusively on Christian McCaffrey.
Prediction: Under (TB 27 – CAR 13).
