Betting on the Los Angeles Chargers
With five wins in their last six games, the Chargers are closing out the campaign impressively. If they get another win, they would secure the first AFC’s wild card.
The key to this great moment the Los Angeles is going through has been the team’s defensive performance, as in the last four games they have not allowed more than 17 points, and in the last two, they have conceded 10 points or less.
This is very different from the team that in the first 12 games allowed fewer than 22 points three times, and that allowed the fourth highest yards per play, averaging 5.8. On the offensive side, Justin Herbert has had a good season, but much more is expected of him. The Chargers are fourth in total yards through the air with 4,263, but they rank 15th in TDs through the air with 23. If Herbert doesn’t have a good day, things get ugly for the team. It is second-to-last in average yards per carry with 3.8 and it has the ninth-worst red zone efficiency percentage, scoring on 51.7% of its visits.
Betting on the Denver Broncos
In addition to already being one of the biggest disappointments of the season, the Broncos could finish the year as one of the five worst teams in the league if they add another loss.
Denver nearly shocked the Chiefs last week with an offensive performance that was out of character for the year they have had, which could be because of the new head coach, Jerry Rosburg.
However, there is little Russell Wilson can do to help the Broncos fans erase this campaign’s terrible performance. It has the Broncos placed as the lowest scoring team in the league with 256 points. Moreover, they are seventh in fewest yards gained per play with an average of 7.0, second to last in TDs through the air with 15, and fifth in fewest touchdowns on the ground with 10.
On the defensive side, the Broncos are a totally different team, as evidenced by the 331 points conceded, which is the tenth lowest number in the championship. They allow just 5.0 yards per play, the third best average in the league with 17 touchdowns conceded through the air, and they rank fifth as the best defending team in the red zone by conceding touchdowns on 48.8% of opponent’s visits.
