After a difficult and surprising loss to the Jaguars in Week 3, the Chargers bounced back with a dominating win against the Texans on Sunday.
Part of Los Angeles’ success was a strong performance by quarterback Justin Herbert, who threw for 340 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions, a hallmark of the young QB in his team’s two victories. Running back Austin Ekeler added another 60 yards with two touchdowns, putting together a very important combination before facing a good Cleveland defense.
The Chargers also stopped the Texans’ weak offense. Despite the absence of Joey Bossa, who will miss eight to ten weeks of action, for the third time they conceded less than 350 total yards and the 24 touchdowns allowed were their second fewest of the year. They also forced two turnovers, something which they failed to do in any of their two losses after forcing three in their first victory.

The Browns have performed well this season despite the absence of Deshaun Watson, as both of their losses have happened by three points or fewer.
Last week, against the Falcons, Cleveland got to within 20-17 with 9:51 left in the game, but two consecutive Atlanta field goals led them to defeat. The Browns totaled 403 yards thanks to 118 rushing yards by Nick Chubb, but two fumbles by the offense, one early in the first half and one on the final series of the game, doomed the team.
On the defensive side of the ball, the main issue was halting the Falcons’ ground attack, which accounted for 202 of the team’s 333 yards. In the first three quarters, they barely conceded 10 points, but in the last period, when they had to maintain their lead, they allowed 13 points. That inconsistency, especially when facing Herbert and Akeler, could be a serious problem for them on Sunday.
