Betting on the Kansas City Chiefs (-7.5)
Preseason record: 0-1
The reigning Super Bowl champions were greeted by the New Orleans Saints in the 2023 NFL preseason with a loss, as the Chiefs lost to Derek Carr and company on the road last week, 26-24. That loss does not define who the Chiefs are. Kansas City remains a formidable team that might have a few snaps for Patrick Mahomes to play in Week 2.
Mahomes saw minimal action in the Saints game, going 2/2 for 15 yards. Shane Buechele carried most of the load under center for Kansas City, as he went 11/15 for two touchdowns and 155 passing yards with an interception. “We’ve got to make sure we get our stuff taken care of,” Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said after the game, and considering how great of a tactician he is, expect smoother play from the Chiefs against the Broncos.
Betting on the Arizona Cardinals (+7.5)
Preseason record: 1-0
The Cardinals got the job done last week. With Clayton Tune leading the offense, Arizona defeated Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos at home, 18-17. Tune passed for 135 yards and a touchdown with an interception on 13/23 completions. David Blough also shined, as he had a touchdown and 86 passing yards on 8/14 completions.
Arizona was efficient in extending drives, as the Cards went 9/18 on third downs and 2/3 in the red zone. Kansas City’s defense looked shaky in Week 1 and it could be primed for abuse by the Cardinals who torched the Broncos for a total of 339 yards. The Under is 3-1 in the Cardinals’ last four preseason games as the home team.
