Betting on the Indianapolis Colts
Jeff Saturday’s arrival hasn’t been of great help to a Colts team that had a chance to compete with the Titans for the AFC South up until last week.
The team’s paltry offense virtually ended those chances, and now, faced with the Cowboys’ great defense, they appear to have zero chance of success. Only twice during the season have the Colts been able to surpass the 20-point scoring barrier, and as a result they are the fourth-lowest scoring team with 190 points scored. Among the team problems, there’s the fact that the team leads the league with 21 turnovers and also that neither Matt Ryan nor Jonathan Taylor have been able to live up to expectations as the dynamic duo they were expected to be.
The Colts’ solid defense has crumbled under the weight of their poor offensive effort. The offense’s fumbles have been the cause of many of the touchdowns conceded, which explains why their record is so dismal despite giving up the fifth-fewest yards per play (4.9).
Additionally, they have scored only 13 passing TDs, the eighth-lowest rate in the league, and on the ground they have the second-lowest yards per rush average (3.9).
Betting on the Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys enter this game in an unbeatable position. After two convincing victories, they must play three of the league’s weakest opponents before taking on the Eagles in Week 16: they’ll be hosting the Colts and Texans before going to Jacksonville.
Dallas boasts one of the top defenses in the league to handle this season’s closing stretch. They are the only team that has not allowed more than 2,000 passing yards, they have given up the fewest points (187), they have conceded the third-fewest ground touchdowns (6), and they are the only team with more than four dozen sacks, with 45.
On offense, Dak Prescott’s return worked like a charm, and they have four consecutive games scoring more than 28 points, two of them surpassing 40. The quarterback has blended well with the running back duo of Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard, which has the Cowboys seventh in rushing yards with 1,531 and fourth in TDs scored with 15.
JefeBet Prediction
Las Vegas doesn’t look kindly on the possibility of the Cowboys pummeling a good Colts defense, but the question is whether the Indianapolis offense, which has scored fewer than 12 points four times this year on the road, can overpower Dallas’ defense.
To that, we can add that in the previous five games, both the home team and the favorite have a 4-1 record when playing against the spread.
Prediction: Cowboys Spread (IND 16 – DAL 30).
