The Dallas Cowboys won’t give up the chance to dethrone the Eagles as NFC East champions, and in order to do that, they must continue their winning streak when they visit the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
The Cowboys have won four consecutive NFL games and with a 10-3 record, after their 23-27 win over the Texans, they remain two games behind Philadelphia in the division, knowing that next week they will host them in Dallas.
However, the game against Jacksonville will be far from simple. The Jaguars still have a chance to fight for the AFC South against the Titans, and have won their last two home games against the Raiders and Ravens.
Despite a 3-2 record, the Cowboys have also struggled when playing away from home. Because of this, the way they play the game, especially on the offensive side, is crucial. They have not scored less than 27 points for the last six games, and this has been more than enough to support one of the best defenses in the league.
Dallas already holds the third place in terms of points scored with 360, and its biggest strength—outside of Dak Prescott’s performance since his comeback—is the ground attack Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard employ. They are responsible for their ranking of seventh in overall rushing yards (1,878), second in TDs scored via this route (21), and third in red zone efficiency (scoring in 71.4% of their trips within the opponent’s 20-yard line).
The stats are considerably overwhelming on the defensive side. With 4.8, they share first place among teams with the fewest yards allowed per play and have gone four games without surrendering more than 23 points. With 23, they are also joint leaders in fumble recoveries, second in fewest passing yards allowed, third in fewest opponent ground TDs scored, and second in catches (48).

Although not as much as the records of both teams may suggest, the Cowboys are somewhat favored by Las Vegas bookies. As to why we say this, the Jaguars have won three of their past five games this season and are a very dangerous team with postseason aspirations.

Two of the Cowboys’ last three away games have ended in defeat, while all three of the Jaguars’ home losses have come by seven points or fewer.
This, plus the statistic that shows us that the underdog plays for 4-1 against the spread in the last five clashes, makes us think that if Dallas comes out on top it won’t be by much of a margin.

Despite Dallas’ strong defensive performance, only one of its last six games has ended with a score of less than 48 points. The same happened on Jacksonville’s side, where the last three games played this season have exceeded 50 points in total.
In addition, the Over has a 5-0 record in the last five meetings between the two teams.

Expectations in Las Vegas for the Cowboys are still for a strong finish to the campaign after winning their last four games, three of them at home.
Dallas’ hopes are thus dependent on the victories they can accumulate in their final three away games, with this week’s matchup against the Jaguars being the least complex of those three. Then, in weeks 17 and 18, they will travel to face formidable foes like Titans and Commanders to round up the campaign.
Moving on to the home games, it is clear that Dallas has completed the task by defeating the Giants, Colts and Texans (prior to facing the Eagles in Week 16). The Cowboys would need to win all of their other games, assuming they lose to Philadelphia, in order to win the championship in Las Vegas.

The relentless Eagles have prevented the Cowboys from closing the distance despite their gradually strong performance. The good news is that they’ll have an easy game before they play them in Week 16, and any slip-up by Philadelphia could be a pivotal clash between the two. With four games left to play, Dallas still has hopes of taking control of the NFC East.

Little by little, the Cowboys have been cutting ground in this section not only because of their great performance in the last few weeks but also because teams that on paper were favorites to win the Conference, such as the Packers or Buccaneers, have been disappointing. Based on recent results, they are the third favorite in Las Vegas to win the NFC behind the Eagles and 49ers.

The Cowboys have also gradually risen in the odds to win the Super Bowl, and their achievement of a postseason place already bodes well for them. Before facing the AFC heavyweights in a purportedly pivotal game, they’ll have to face the Vikings, Philadelphia and San Francisco.

A prize that seemed imminent weeks ago has been fading away due to the declining performance of Micah Parsons and the great rebound of Nick Bosa with the San Francisco 49ers.
The Cowboys linebacker is only one sack short of matching his 13.0 sack total from last season, which helped him win Defensive Rookie of the Year. Moreover, he has gone two weeks without knowing what being sacked is.
For his part, Bosa now co-leads the section with 14.5 catches and accumulates 15 tackles for loss of yardage, a category in which Parson also lagged behind by stalling at 12.
