Betting on the Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles come into the game ready to seal their divisional title and establish themselves as the team with the best record in the entire National Conference.
This Saturday, though, it won’t be as simple to do so: they’ll be up against one of the league’s top defenses in addition to having to play without their main quarterback, Jalen Hurts. The quarterback is experiencing shoulder discomfort, so Gardner Minshew will make his first start of the year as the quarterback of a squad that ranks second in points scored and first in rushing touchdowns with 30.
The good news for the Eagles is that they are also among the best defenses in the league, as evidenced by the fact that they are not only fifth in the fewest points conceded to opponents, but also lead the category of lowest average yards gained per play (4.7), total yards through the air (2,414) and opposing quarterback sacks (55).
Betting on the Dallas Cowboys
Following their loss to the Jaguars, the Cowboys must win all of their remaining games and the Eagles must lose all of their remaining games in order for team from Dallas to clinch the NFC East and the best record in the National Conference. This seems to be a really difficult thing to do.
The good news is that this Saturday they could take the first step towards making that happen by getting a win and evening the campaign series against Philadelphia. To do so, their defense must get back on track and forget about the 40 points received by the Jaguars. Dallas has the sixth lowest average yards allowed per play at 5.0, they are the defense with the most fumbles recovered at 26, their secondary has the fourth-lowest average net passing yards at 5.4, and they are second in QB sacks with 49.
On the offensive side, the Cowboys have seven consecutive games scoring at least 27 points, and in three of them they have surpassed 40 points. Their best weapon in attacking opponents is the ground game, where they are seventh in total yards (2,032) and are trailing the Eagles for the lead in touchdowns on the ground with 22. However, in recent games they have been complicated by many turnovers, having committed eight in four games.
JefeBet Prediction
The Cowboys have a great opportunity to close the gap on the Eagles, as they’ll be without one of the season’s MVP candidates, QB Jalen Hurts.
Philadelphia’s offense is just as dangerous, but there is no doubt that without Hurts it loses dynamism and that can be taken advantage of by Dallas’ good defense. The team is also playing very well offensively, and at home has scored more than 20 points in seven of its eight games.
Prediction: Over (PHI 23 – DAL 27).
