Betting on the Green Bay Packers
The Packers seem to have reacted a little late in the campaign with a very tough schedule to close the regular round. This is so since it looks very difficult for them to reach the postseason, even though they are just a game and a half away from the last NFC wild card.
The first obstacle they have come across is their visit to Miami, where they must try to keep their good defensive momentum by allowing just 31 points in the last two games. That’s a strange scenario for them since they’ve gone through many ups and downs all season and now rank 10th in most yards allowed per play with 5.6. Plus, their main problem is defending the ground attack, although they have conceded the second-fewest total aerial yards.
Regarding the offensive side, Aaron Rodgers has looked much more comfortable in the last two wins, and that’s a good incentive before facing a defense that has gone through a lot lately. Besides, they barely rank 16th with 3,070 total aerial yards, but are 6th in TDs with 24.
On the ground, as well as defensively, is where the Green Bay Packers’ most difficulties are. Although they are currently 7th with 4.8 yards per carry, they have not been able to translate that into points, registering only nine touchdowns.
Betting on the Miami Dolphins
After three extremely difficult visits, the Miami Dolphins return home with the intention of not dropping further in the standings and at least maintaining the second wild card spot in the American Conference.
In order to do so, they need to improve a lot of things, especially on the defensive side. On the three-game road trip, Miami allowed a minimum of 32 points in two of those games. Thus, they are the sixth-highest scoring team on the campaign, with 344 points allowed.
Against Rodgers, they could get in trouble again, as they are 6th in yards allowed through the air with 3,448, and they are 5th in TDs with 24. Things get a little better on the ground, but, when moving into the red zone, they are the seventh worst defending team by allowing a touchdown 62% of the times.
Their offense is one of the most explosive in the circuit, and as they will be playing at home against the Packers’ defense, they should not let their guard down. Miami is 9th in points scored, with 345, and 2nd in yards gained per play, with an average of 6.2. The strength of the Dolphins’ offense relies on Tua Tagovailoa’s passing, which explains why they are 3rd in air yards with 3,830, 4th in TDs with 27, and 10th in red zone conversions with over 60%.
JefeBet Prediction
Las Vegas seems to be aware that on Sunday afternoon we will have a lot of points as a Christmas present. The point line started at 46.5 and is already at 50, which should not be surprising considering the good aerial offense of both teams and the poor defense they have shown this season.
Prediction: Over (GB 26 – MIA 30).
