Betting on the Jacksonville Jaguars (-1.5)
Regular season record: 7-3
The Jags rebounded from a bad loss at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers (34-3) in Week 10 by mauling the Tennessee Titans at home in Week 11, 34-14. Jacksonville is not quite considered an elite team despite having already seven wins in 10 games, as further proved in the loss against a team like the Niners.
But the Jaguars are a team good enough to beat middling squads. With that said, the Jaguars can look anywhere from competitive to downright dominant this coming weekend versus the Texans. That’s notwithstanding the fact that Jacksonville lost to the Texans at home in Week 3, 37-17. Since that loss, the Jags have lost just once in seven outings. On the season, the Jaguars are 7-3 against the spread. They have also covered the spread in all three games this year as the road team.
Betting on the Houston Texans (+1.5)
Regular season record: 6-4
CJ Stroud is still just a rookie but he’s looking more and more like the real deal the deeper the season gets. In Houston’s 21-16 home win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 11, Stroud had three interceptions but he also threw for 336 yards and two touchdowns on 27/37 completions.
He showed tremendous poise for a first-year signal-caller in that contest, and he should only get bolder in Week 12 against a team that he had already victimized before. Back in the first meeting with the Jags this season, the former Ohio State Buckeyes star passed for 280 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions on 20/30 completions. So far in the 2023 NFL campaign, the Texans are 5-5 against the spread.
El Jefe’s Prediction on Jacksonville Jaguars vs Houston Texans
Jacksonville has become a better team since that loss to the Texans, and we’re expecting Trevor Lawrence and the Jags to return the favor in Week 12.
Prediction:
The Jaguars win, 27-24.
