For the third time in the last four seasons, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are the American Conference’s representatives in the Super Bowl.
Despite ankle discomfort, Mahomes was able to avenge last Sunday’s loss to the Bengals last campaign and Kansas City went on to win the AFC Conference Final 20-23.
Although the game was full of controversial decisions, the Chiefs’ offense showed why it is considered the best of the campaign after beating a Cincinnati defense that had been playing relentlessly since the second half of the regular round.
Staying in the game also helped Andy Reid’s defense do a decent job, especially taking advantage of its strength in making catches, five in total against Joe Burrow. They also took advantage of the fact that this is the main weakness of Cincinnati’s offensive line.
As for their game against the Eagles, the challenge will be twofold as defensively, Philadelphia only allowed 14 points in two games this postseason. However, neither of the two QBs they faced were of Mahomes’ quality.
Thanks to him, the Chiefs were the highest scoring team in the championship with 496 points and were the only offense to surpass 7,000 total yards with 7,036. No one averaged more yards gained per play than their 6.4, the 41 touchdown passes were the most in the NFL and with a 69.4% conversion percentage they finished second inside the red zone.
Defensively, the Chiefs finished as the team that conceded the most aerial TDs in the league and tried to solve this problem by stopping the opposing ground game. However, they will have a serious disadvantage against the Eagles, who scored the most touchdowns on the ground this year.

The Eagles lived up to their expectations as National Conference favorites after dominating from start to finish in the regular round. Philadelphia not only destroyed the Giants in the Divisional Round, but also took advantage of Brock Purdy’s early injury to dispatch the dangerous 49ers 7-31.
The offense led by Jalen Hurts was not afraid of the best defense in the league and with only 269 total yards. They were able to score 31 touchdowns against a unit that only conceded more than 30 points twice this year.
A record that should not be surprising considering that Philadelphia was the second-highest scoring team in the circuit, second only to the Chiefs. One of their keys was that they barely lost the ball on 18 occasions, while their 32 TDs on the ground were the most in the championship, and they finished as the third-best team in the red zone.
If Mahomes was a key player for Kansas City, Hurts is also worthy of admiration. The QB threw for over 3,700 yards and rushed for over 700 despite missing two regular round games.
On the defensive side, the Eagles are also among the league’s elite and that is why they are so dangerous. An example of this is that they were two sacks shy of the NFL all-time record with 70, and in the playoffs they added eight more between New York and San Francisco.
Add to that Mahomes’ physical problems coming out of the pocket and the fact that Philadelphia was the team that allowed the fewest total yards through the air in the championship, and you can understand why they are slight favorites in the betting to win the title.

The Eagles’ slight edge in the betting odds speaks volumes about how close this game will be between two of the best offenses in the league and two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL today.
The Chiefs are the number one offense in the circuit thanks to their powerful aerial attack, while Philadelphia is number two because they finished ninth through the air and fifth on the ground.
That is why there is no doubt that the difference will be made by the defenses. In this area, Kansas City seemed to lack the strength of Philadelphia, but they just held Joe Burrow and company to a mere 20 points.

What’s more, through the air they are one of the best in the circuit.
