To kick off the seventh week of NFL action, Thursday Night Football has the Saints vs. Cardinals, two teams that are nowhere near the performance expected of them at this stage of the season.
New Orleans failed to protect its lead at home against the Bengals, falling by a score of 30-26, while Arizona was unable to overcome the Seahawks, being outscored 9-19. With these losses, both teams have a 2-4 record so far this season.

Betting on the New Orleans Saints

The Saints’ offensive inconsistency, caused in large part by injuries of key players in their offense, has the New Orleans team in a delicate situation.
After a great start against the Bengals with 20 points in the first half, the offense couldn’t get the job done in the second half, scoring just two field goals. Quarterback Andy Dalton, who started for the third game after Jameis Winston’s injury and had not the top 3 team’s receivers available, was unable to get a 1st and 10 on the last two offensive series, something Cincinnati took advantage of by coming from behind.
It did so against a defense that has not lived up to what was expected of it. The Saints have allowed the fourth most points this year (158) and on Sunday couldn’t stop Joe Burrow, who with less than two minutes left in the game threw them a 60-yard TD that sealed the comeback. No rarity considering that for the fourth time they allowed more than 340 yards through the air.
Betting on the Arizona Cardinals

While the Cardinals’ defense continues to do a respectable job, the team’s offense is the big debt of the season.
On Sunday, against one of the worst defenses in the league in Seattle, Kyler Murray and company could only score nine points, including six on a fumble recovered in the end zone after a punt.
Despite rushing for over 100 yards for the first time this season and throwing 222 through the air, Murray continues to fall short by throwing an interception for the third consecutive game. In addition, the young QB, who signed a multi-million dollar extension before the start of this season, has only topped 250 yards on two occasions.
For its part, the defense has only once allowed more than 23 points this season and on two occasions, including against the Seahawks, conceded less than 20. This stopped Geno Smith who came into the game inspired, but again found no support from an offense that for the third time in 2022 scored less than 17 points.

In this Saints vs Cardinals, historically these two teams rack up a good amount of points when they meet, but next Thursday the story will be different thanks to a Cardinals’ offense that has been weak all season and also a Saints’ offense with many figures out of action.
New Orleans’ defense has not played well but has been able to stop the ground attack, something Kyler Murray relies heavily on. For their part, Arizona has gotten the job done against the opposing offense and the Saints have been very inconsistent in that area.
