Predictions, Odds and Betting Previews for the NFC Divisional Round Games of the NFL Playoffs 2023 Running Between January 21 and 22
New York Giants (+260) vs Philadelphia Eagles (-350) / Saturday, Jan. 21 / 8:15 PM E.T.
- Giants Spread: +7.5.
- Eagles Spread: -7.5.
- Over/Under: 48.0.
The Giants are one of the pleasant surprises of the season thanks to Brian Daboll’s good hand as head coach. During his first season, he made significant improvements to a team that hadn’t reached the postseason in six seasons, and it is currently coming off its first playoff victory since the Super Bowl win over the Patriots in 2011.
Daniel Jones, the quarterback who is enjoying the best season of his career and who was flawless leading the offense for New York, is one of the players to note from their outstanding performance against the Vikings in Minnesota. Despite Philadelphia having clearly overpowered them this season, the Giants’ defense only allowed 332 total yards to one of the league’s top offenses.
However, the Eagles rolled over everyone, not just the Giants. Led by Jalen Hurts, they were the best team in the National Conference with a 14-3 record and come into the game rested and eager to show why they finished among the best teams in both defense and offense.
While Hurts’ physical discomfort in his right shoulder may cast some doubt on his performance next Saturday, the QB shredded the Giants’ defense who had no answer for either his passes or his rushes. In addition to what their quarterback can do, it is vital for the Eagles that their ground defense, the team’s weak point, is able to stop the good ground attack that New York has with Saquon Barkley.
Prediction: Over.

Dallas Cowboys (+150) vs San Francisco 49ers (-185) / Sunday, January 22 / 6:30 PM E.T.
- Cowboys Spread: +3.5.
- 49ers Spread: -3.5.
- Over/Under: 46.5
After eight consecutive postseason away games without a win, the Cowboys picked up a solid win against the Buccaneers on Monday night before taking on the top seed in the National Conference to reach the Super Bowl.
The key for Dallas was both their good defense against the very weak offense led by Tom Brady, and also the great work of their QB Dak Prescott, who threw four touchdowns without interceptions. He also worked very well with the good running back duo of Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard.
On the 49ers’ side of the ball, they were able to accomplish their mission of beating the Seahawks at home. Now, they’ll be hosting Dallas with an 11-game winning streak which includes their last regular round games.
San Francisco has the best defense in the circuit and while Prescott looked very good against the Bucs, this Kyle Shanahan defense is far superior to Tampa Bay’s. Turning to the offense, the 49ers are one of the NFL’s most dynamic offenses, and rookie QB Brock Purdy seems to have no plans to slow down since taking over the starting role.
Prediction: Over.
