Betting on the Carolina Panthers
The Panthers were close to coming into this week as the NFC South leaders, but a great performance by Tom Brady ended their hopes.
For a little more than three quarters, Carolina was making a splash in the worst division in the league, but suddenly fell back to reality after failing to maintain a defensive performance that had them conceding no more than 24 points in their last six games.
That good defensive performance came a little late, as during the first half of the campaign the Panthers were punished by their opponents and are among the worst teams in total passing and rushing yards allowed, as well as passing and rushing touchdowns.
On offense, Carolina was able to work well without Baker Mayfield and Christian McCaffrey, who both left the team before the team’s late campaign awakening.
Betting on the New Orleans Saints
The Saints can be considered a disappointment beyond the injuries they suffered, especially because of the dismal offensive performance shown on the gridiron.
New Orleans is the third team with the most turnovers in the campaign with 24 and that was enough to decide the games against them. It was of little help for the Saints to position themselves in the middle of the attacking categories, both through the air and on the ground, if at the end of the offensive series the balls ended up in the hands of their opponents.
This scenario could not be greatly improved by a defense that in eight of the last nine games did not allow more than 20 points. Additionally, they are third in fewest total passing yards and passing touchdowns allowed and sixth in lowest average yards allowed per play (5.1). And while their offense was one of those who lost possession of the ball the most, their defense lost possession of the ball the least, forcing just 12 turnovers.
